Doug Lavergne is a native of the Capital District, having graduated from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School. He has a BS in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University and a MS in Mechanical Engineering from Union College. After a 16 year career in engineering, most of it with General Electric, he commenced his journey into natural health care.

Doug received a Doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine and a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon as part of a fully accredited 6 year dual-degree program. Dr. Lavergne is a nationally board certified acupuncturist and is licensed as an acupuncturist in the state of New York. Dr. Lavergne is one of the few doctors of Naturopathic Medicine in the state of New York who is also fully trained and certified as an acupuncturist, giving him expertise in a vast array of natural modalities to enhance a patient’s overall health and well-being.

Dr. Lavergne is also licensed as a naturopathic physician in the state of Vermont. New York State does not yet license Naturopathic Physicians to practice medicine, although a bill is well underway to allow Naturopathic practice. The practice of the profession of medicine is defined as diagnosing, treating, operating or prescribing for any human disease, pain, injury, deformity or physical condition. Doug Lavergne, ND LAc does not practice medicine in the state of New York. He functions solely as a licensed acupuncturist and health consultant and focuses his practice on the enhancement of health.

Doug lives in upstate NY with his wife Kay, who is also the Office Manager of the clinic. A lifelong avid hiker, Doug is a member of the Adirondack 46er Club, having reached the summit of the 46 highest Adirondack Mountains (over 4000 ft).
